Fathers and Sons - Ivan Turgenev, Constance Garnett

Oh lordy.

The young college educated men come home and immediately think they are so superior to their elders because of the views they hold.

Silly boys. Those views are just regurgitated ideas that have gone out of fashion and are now in fashion under a new name.

And I can remember being one of those boys. We don't have children and so I'll never know what kind of Father I would have been; but I do know what kind of Son I was and I'm immensely grateful for the forbearance of my dad and other men who I interacted with.

And cigars. I hate those things!
